The drag-and-drop website builder that publishes to a live URL in one click

Wix is a hosted website builder: you design pages in the drag-and-drop Wix Editor (or Wix Studio), pick from professionally designed templates, and add features like Wix Stores, Bookings, Blog, and contact forms — then click Publish and your site is live on the web.

Even on the free plan, every published Wix site gets a real public URL in the form siteprefix.wixsite.com/siteaddress. As of August 2026, Wix's own free-plan help page describes that plan as including 500MB of storage and 1GB of bandwidth, and says Wix automatically optimises your site for mobile; connecting your own custom domain — and removing the Wix ads — is listed there as a premium-plan benefit. Those are Wix's plan details and Wix's to change.

Either way, the thing that matters here is simple: a published Wix site is a live URL. Free App Maker is a website to APK converter — it takes that URL and turns it into an installable Android app.

A browser tab is not a place on someone's phone.

Your Wix site is polished and live — but it lives only in a browser tab. Your regular customers have to remember your URL or dig through search results every time. There's no icon on their home screen, no app-like full-screen experience, and nothing that keeps your business one tap away.

An Android APK closes that gap. Customers install it once, tap the icon, and your site opens as an app — no URL to remember, no browser chrome in the way. And because the app displays your live site, it shows the current version for as long as your site is live.

The same one-minute flow can turn any URL to APK, but Wix sites are a particularly good fit: Wix says it automatically optimises your site for mobile, so your site should already look right on a phone screen the moment it's wrapped.

Convert Your Wix Site to Android in 3 Steps

No Android Studio. No Gradle. No Java. Just paste your URL and your APK is ready in about a minute.

Publish your Wix site and copy its URL

In the Wix Editor, click Publish at the top right. Wix's own editor guide is explicit that clicking Save won't make your changes live — after saving you still have to click Publish. Then copy your live URL. On the free plan it looks like siteprefix.wixsite.com/siteaddress; on a premium plan it's your custom domain.

Configure your Android app

Paste your URL into Free App Maker at freeappmaker.org. Enter a name for your Android app (this appears under the home screen icon) and your email address. Optionally upload a square 1024×1024 PNG icon — if you skip it, we generate a clean default icon automatically from your app name.

Download and install your APK

Free App Maker wraps your Wix URL into a WebView APK and signs it, in about 60 seconds. Your signed APK is delivered on your build screen — with any one-time unlock and its exact price always shown before you pay. Open it on any Android device, tap Install, and your Wix site runs as a standalone app with its own home screen icon.

Who Converts Wix Sites to Android?

Wix powers everything from local business sites to full online stores — and each of them gets more valuable with an icon on the customer's home screen.

Local Businesses & Restaurants

Your Wix site already has your menu, hours, location, and contact form. As an Android app, regulars keep you one tap away — no searching, no typed URLs. Print a QR code that points to your APK download link and hand it to customers at the counter.

Wix Stores Sellers

Your product catalog, cart, and checkout live on your Wix site — and the app shows that same live store. New products, price changes and sales show up in the app once you Publish them on your site. Share the APK with your repeat buyers and turn one-time customers into regulars.

Bookings-Based Services

Salons, tutors, trainers, and studios that take appointments through their Wix site can hand clients an app instead of a bookmark. The booking calendar in the app is the same live one on your site, so clients see the same availability your site shows.

Creators, Blogs & Communities

Portfolios, blogs, event pages and members areas built on Wix behave in the app the same way they do in a mobile browser, in most cases. Give your audience an icon on their phone and your latest post is one tap away — no algorithm, no inbox, no rediscovery problem.

What Works — and What to Test First

Free App Maker uses a full Android WebView, so most modern web features behave the way they do in a mobile browser. Here's a practical breakdown for Wix sites — including the honest caveats of the wrap-a-live-URL approach.

✅ Loads like a mobile browser

  • Sites built in the Wix Editor or Wix Studio
  • Free wixsite.com URLs and custom domains
  • Wix Blog posts, contact forms, and chat widgets
  • Image galleries, sliders, and video embeds
  • Wix's automatic mobile-responsive layouts
  • Menus, anchors, lightboxes, and multi-page navigation

⚠️ Test on a device before you ship

  • The app shows your LIVE site — it must stay published and online, and it needs an internet connection
  • Wix Stores product pages, carts and checkout — run your own checkout on a real Android device before you share the app
  • Wix Bookings calendars and members-area sign-in — try your own flow end to end first
  • Social logins (Google, Facebook) — some providers block sign-in inside an embedded WebView, others hand off to an external browser
  • File downloads offered by your site — WebView downloads need explicit handling, so test any download link you rely on
  • Whatever your live site shows, the app shows — as of August 2026 Wix lists removing its ads as a premium-plan benefit
  • Camera, microphone and location — the app shows the standard Android permission prompt the first time your site asks for them; your site must be served over https for the browser engine to allow it. Test on a real device
  • PWA install prompts — suppressed inside a WebView (expected behavior)
  • Heavy animations or video backgrounds — test on mid-range devices for performance

Free App Maker vs. Your Alternatives

There are several ways to get a Wix site onto Android — including Wix's own app builder. Here's how they compare on time, cost, and effort.

Competitor pricing checked 26 August 2026 against each vendor's own pricing page. Sources: Wix App Builder (the "$99 a year" Apple and "$25 one time fee" Google Play figures are quoted from Wix's own page) and Branded App by Wix — an Overview (native app without code; connect your Apple Developer and Google Developer accounts to submit it). Store fees are Apple's and Google's to change.

To be fair to both paths: Wix Mobile Apps builds a true native app and lives in the official app stores — a great fit if you want a store listing and are happy with its subscription. Free App Maker is the fast, direct-distribution path: your existing site, wrapped and installable today.

6 Reasons Wix Site Owners Choose Free App Maker

Beyond the speed, there are real technical and strategic advantages to converting your Wix site with us.

Hit Publish in Wix and the app updates itself

Because the APK loads your live Wix URL at runtime, a change you Publish in the Wix Editor shows up in the Android app the next time it loads. No app store review, no new build, no forced update prompt for users — just open the app and see the current version of your site.

Hand out the APK from your own Wix site — no store listing

The APKs we generate are digitally signed, so Android can install them once the user allows installs from your source. Android may still show its standard sideloading and Play Protect prompts. Share the download link with customers, embed it on your Wix site, or push it through a company MDM — no store listing required.

From Wix Publish to installable APK in about 60 seconds

Doing this by hand means installing Android Studio, pulling down the SDK, and waiting on Gradle. Free App Maker's build pipeline runs server-side in optimized containers and delivers your APK in about 60 seconds. Iterate quickly — test a new app name or icon in minutes.

Icon generation for all Android sizes

Android wants your launcher icon at every screen density it supports. Free App Maker auto-generates those sizes from a single 1024×1024 PNG. No Figma, no Photoshop, no manual export needed. We generate a default icon if you don't have one.

Yours to keep — no lock-in

The APK you download belongs entirely to you. Distribute it from your own website, send it directly to clients, or push it through MDM — no attribution requirement and no ongoing dependency on us for the app to keep working. Unlocked builds carry no Free App Maker branding.

Runs on Android 5.0 and above

Our APKs run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above — the version from which the WebView implementation has been supplied as a separate, preinstalled APK that can be updated like an ordinary app rather than only with the OS. On devices that carry it, that update path is the Google Play Store, so the engine rendering your Wix site keeps pace with modern web APIs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about converting a Wix site to an Android APK.

Does Free App Maker work with Wix websites?
Yes. Any published Wix site — whether it lives on a free wixsite.com URL or on your own custom domain — can be wrapped as an Android APK. Free App Maker loads your live Wix site inside a secure Android WebView, so your pages, menus, galleries, forms and stores behave the same way they do in a mobile browser, in most cases. A few flows are worth testing on a device first — the compatibility section above lists them.
Can I convert a free-plan Wix site (a wixsite.com URL)?
Yes. The free Wix URL format — siteprefix.wixsite.com/siteaddress — is a normal public web address, and Free App Maker converts it like any other URL. One honest note: whatever your live site shows, the app shows — Wix ads included. As of August 2026, Wix's own free-plan help page lists removing the Wix ads as a premium-plan benefit, so upgrading your Wix plan takes them off your site and out of the app at the same time. Plan details are Wix's to change — check their current page before you rely on this.

How is this different from Wix's own app builder (Branded App / Wix Mobile Apps)?
Wix's own offering builds a native mobile app without code, and publishing it requires connecting your own Apple Developer and Google Developer accounts — Wix notes the plan does not include Apple's App Store registration fee (from $99 a year) or Google Play's $25 one-time fee. Those two figures are quoted from Wix's own App Builder page as of August 2026 and are Apple's and Google's to change. Free App Maker takes a different path: it wraps your existing live Wix site in a WebView APK you can install and share directly. Building and previewing is free; downloading the signed APK is covered by a one-time unlock, with the price always shown before checkout.

Does the Android app update when I hit Publish in Wix?
Yes. The APK loads your live Wix URL at runtime, so when you click Publish in the Wix Editor, the change shows up in the Android app the next time someone opens or reloads it — no new build, no new APK. One Wix-specific reminder: clicking Save in the editor does not make changes live. Only Publish updates your live site, and therefore the app.

Will Wix Stores, Wix Bookings, or my contact forms work inside the APK?
Interactive features that work in a mobile browser generally work in the app, because the app is showing your real live site. Product pages, carts, booking calendars, forms, chat widgets and blog comments load over the internet the same way they do in a mobile browser, in most cases. As with any payment or login flow, test your specific checkout on a real Android device before sharing the app with customers.
Can I upload the APK to Google Play Store?
The APK you receive is built for direct installation and testing — install it on an Android device or share the download link with your users. Google Play is a separate path: as of August 2026, Google's Play Console help documents that Play uses Android App Bundles to generate and deliver APKs, and that publishing with APKs applies only to apps created before August 2021 — plus Google's own developer registration and review. If a Play listing is your goal, the files you need to publish your app on Google Play — the AAB, your signing key, a hosted privacy policy, the store graphics and the answers to Google's forms — comes in one payment. You upload it from your own Play Console.

Is this completely free? Any hidden costs?
It is free to start — no account, no credit card, no subscription. You paste a URL, enter your email, and your app is built free. Downloading the signed APK is covered by a one-time unlock — priced by country and always shown before checkout — which also removes the small Free App Maker splash screen from every app you build.
What is the minimum Android version the APK supports?
APKs built by Free App Maker run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above. That floor is deliberate: since Android 5.0, the Android System WebView — the rendering engine that runs your Wix site — has been supplied as a separate, preinstalled APK that can be updated like an ordinary app rather than only with the OS. On devices that carry it, that update path is the Google Play Store, so the engine rendering your site keeps pace with modern web APIs.

Do Wix members-area logins and social logins work in the app?
Email/password sign-in to a Wix members area normally works inside the WebView. Social logins such as Google or Facebook are a different story: some providers block sign-in from an embedded WebView, and others hand off to an external browser and then return to the app, which adds a step. The behaviour depends on the provider, not on Wix — so test your specific login flow on a real device before sharing the app with members.
What happens if my Wix site goes offline or I unpublish it?
The app is a live window onto your website, so the site must stay published and reachable for the app to show content. If you unpublish the site in Wix, or the visitor has no internet connection, the app cannot load your pages until the site is back online. This is the honest trade-off of the WebView approach — the flip side being that as long as your site is live, the app shows the current version, with no stale copy to update.
