The AI vibe-coding platform that turns a prompt into a working app

Base44 is a no-code AI platform for building apps, websites and AI agents. You describe what you want in plain language, and Base44 generates the structure, design and logic for you — with backend and storage built in, an authentication system, a database, and one-click integrations with tools like Slack, Google Calendar and HubSpot.

Publishing takes one click: when your app is ready, it's instantly live and shareable at a free built-in URL like yourapp.base44.app, or on a custom domain — which, as of August 2026, starts on Base44's Starter plan at $16/mo billed annually. Base44 was acquired by Wix in June 2025.

That published URL is all you need here. Free App Maker is a website to APK converter: paste your live Base44 link and it comes back as a signed Android app your users can install.

A browser tab is not a place on someone's phone

Your Base44 app is powerful — but it lives only in a browser tab. Android users can't find it in the Play Store, can't add it to their home screen with a real icon, and can lose the link the moment they clear their browser history. That's a real distribution gap for any serious product.

An Android APK closes most of that gap. Users install it once, tap the icon on their home screen, and the app opens straight to your Base44 project — no URL to remember, no browser chrome in the way. And because the APK wraps your live link, the same URL to APK conversion works for any Base44 app you publish, on its built-in address or your own domain.

For startups and indie founders, distributing via Android APK also means you can reach users through direct download links, beta testing groups, or enterprise MDM systems — without waiting for Play Store approval. Share an APK link and anyone who allows the install can put your Base44 app on their phone.

Convert Your Base44 App to Android in 3 Steps

No Android Studio. No Gradle. No Java. Just paste your URL and your APK is ready in about a minute.

Publish your Base44 app and copy its URL

In the Base44 editor, click Publish — your app goes live instantly at its free built-in URL, which looks like https://yourapp.base44.app (you can personalize it under Dashboard → Domains), or at your custom domain if you connected one. Unpublished edits stay private, so publish your latest version first.

Configure your Android app

Paste your URL into Free App Maker at freeappmaker.org. Enter a name for your Android app (this appears under the home screen icon) and your email address. Optionally upload a square 1024×1024 PNG icon — if you skip it, we generate a clean default icon automatically from your app name.

Download and install your APK

Free App Maker wraps your Base44 URL into a WebView APK and signs it — the build takes about 60 seconds, and your signed APK is delivered on your build screen, with any one-time unlock and its exact price always shown before you pay. Open the file on any Android device, tap Install, and your Base44 app runs as a standalone app with its own home screen icon.

Who Converts Base44 Apps to Android?

From solo founders to enterprise teams, converting a Base44 app to Android opens distribution channels the web alone can't reach.

Startup Founders & Indie Hackers

You described your MVP to Base44 and it built the whole stack — interface, database, auth. Converting it to an Android APK lets you distribute it to beta users directly — no Play Store listing required yet. Share the APK link in your Discord, Reddit post, or Product Hunt launch and collect feedback from Android users without waiting on a store listing.

Agencies & Freelancers

Your client asked for an Android app on top of the web version you built in Base44. Converting the live Base44 URL to an APK gives you an installable Android build the same day. Present it at the client meeting, and move toward a Play Store listing when they're ready to launch officially.

Students & Hackathon Teams

If your hackathon asks for an installable build alongside the web demo, converting your Base44 project to an APK takes about 60 seconds and gives your team an Android entry to submit — no Android toolchain to learn the night before judging.

Enterprise Internal Tools

Internal dashboards, field-worker tools, and warehouse management apps built in Base44 can be distributed as APKs through your company's Mobile Device Management (MDM) system. No Play Store account or listing needed — deploy directly to company-managed Android devices.

What Works — and What to Test First

Free App Maker uses a full Android WebView, which means most modern web features behave much as they do in Chrome — as long as your published Base44 URL stays online. Here's a practical breakdown for Base44 projects.

✅ Works out of the box

  • Base44-generated interfaces, layouts, and app logic
  • Base44's built-in database and storage — reads and writes go over the internet as in the browser
  • Base44's built-in authentication system (email and password sign-in)
  • One-click integrations like Slack, Google Calendar, and HubSpot
  • REST API and GraphQL calls to any backend
  • WebSocket connections over wss://
  • CSS animations and responsive layouts optimized for mobile viewports
  • File uploads and downloads
  • Your custom domain, if you connected one — domain connection starts on Base44's Starter plan, as of August 2026

⚠️ Test before you ship

  • Payment flows — Base44's payment features are available in your app, but card and 3-D Secure redirects inside a WebView should be checked on a real device
  • Google OAuth sign-in — typically opens an external browser tab, adding one step
  • Clipboard API — requires HTTPS and a user gesture (generally works on modern Android)
  • Camera, microphone and location — the app shows the standard Android permission prompt the first time your site asks for them; your site must be served over https for the browser engine to allow it. Test on a real device
  • Deep links to external apps (maps, phone dialers) — test on a real device
  • PWA install prompts — suppressed inside a WebView (expected behavior)
  • Native-only device APIs — a WebView app is your live site in an Android shell, so features that need native code stay browser-grade

Free App Maker vs. Base44's Own Export and the Named Wrappers

The real choices a Base44 builder faces are Base44's own app-store export and a handful of named wrapper services. Every price below is quoted from that vendor's own pricing page and is stated as of August 2026.

Auto-updates when you hit Publish in Base44 ✓ Yes — the APK loads your live Base44 URL at runtime No — the AAB is a build; store updates go through Google Play review Not stated on these vendors' own pricing pages — check with each vendor

Competitor pricing checked 26 August 2026 against each vendor's own pricing page: Base44 app-store docs, Base44 pricing, Natively, Median.co, WebViewGold. Google Play's registration fee per Google Play Console Help. Prices change — check each vendor before you buy.

The free DIY route is Capacitor — MIT-licensed and free, but its own documentation says an Android build needs "Android Studio and an Android SDK installation", which is the toolchain this page exists to skip. And the two paths that generate store files, Base44's export and Median.co, target a Google Play listing; Free App Maker targets the step before it — a signed APK you can install and share directly, today, from any published URL.

6 Reasons to Convert Your Base44 App With Us

Beyond the speed, there are real technical and strategic advantages to converting your Base44 app with us.

Hit Publish in Base44 — the Android app updates itself

Because the APK loads your live Base44 URL at runtime, changes you publish in Base44 show up the next time the Android app loads. No store review, no new build, no forced update prompt for users — just open the app and get the latest version.

Signed APK — install and distribute anywhere

The APKs we generate are digitally signed, so they install cleanly once you allow installs from your source. Android may still show a caution screen for an app from a developer it doesn't recognize. For a Google Play listing you need an AAB rather than an APK — it comes in our Play Store Pack.

base44.app URL in, installable APK out — about 60 seconds

Installing Android Studio and running a full Gradle build is a project in itself. Free App Maker's build pipeline runs server-side in optimized containers and delivers your APK in about 60 seconds, so trying a different app name or icon means rebuilding rather than reconfiguring.

Icon generation for every Android density

Android launchers ask for your icon at every screen density Android needs, from the smallest to the largest. Free App Maker generates those sizes from a single 1024×1024 PNG. No Figma, no Photoshop, no manual export needed. We generate a default icon if you don't have one.

No Base44 plan upgrade — a Free-plan base44.app URL is enough

Base44's own app-store file download sits behind its Builder plan, as of August 2026. Free App Maker only needs a URL that loads, so a published app on Base44's Free plan qualifies. And once you unlock the download the APK belongs to you — no Free App Maker splash screen, no attribution requirement, no ongoing dependency on us.

Runs on Android 5.0 and above

Our APKs run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and above. Whether your users are on budget Samsung Galaxy handsets or Pixel flagships, the Android System WebView is kept up to date through the Google Play Store on devices that have it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about converting a Base44 app to an Android APK.

Does Free App Maker work with Base44 apps?
Yes. A Base44 app that has been published to a public URL — whether on its free yourapp.base44.app address or a custom domain — can be wrapped as an Android APK. Free App Maker loads your Base44 app inside a secure Android WebView, so the interactive experience works the same way it does in a mobile browser, in most cases.

Source: Base44 domain docs, checked 26 Aug 2026.

Will Base44's built-in database, auth, and integrations keep working in the Android APK?
In most cases, yes. The APK wraps the live URL — API calls, authentication flows, database queries, and integrations happen over the internet the same way they do in the browser. Base44's built-in backend and storage, its authentication system, and its one-click integrations with tools like Slack, Google Calendar, or HubSpot should keep working without changes to your Base44 project. Test the flows that matter most to you on a real device before you share the app.

Source: Base44, checked 26 Aug 2026.

Does the Android app auto-update when I publish changes in Base44?
Yes. Because the APK loads your live Base44 URL at runtime, updates you push with Base44's Publish button show up in the Android app the next time it loads — no new build, no new APK required. Remember that edits reach your live URL only after you publish them in Base44; once published, users just reopen the Android app to get the latest version.
Base44 can generate app store files itself — why use Free App Maker?
The two paths solve different problems. Base44's own app-store feature prepares an AAB bundle for Google Play submission — you supply and pay for your own Google Play developer account, and downloading the generated files requires Base44's Builder plan or higher, which is $40/mo billed annually as of August 2026. Free App Maker gives you an installable, signed APK from your published URL in about 60 seconds — no developer account and no store review — which is ideal for direct installs, beta testers, client demos, and MDM distribution. Many builders use both: an APK for direct distribution today, and Base44's AAB flow when they are ready for a Play Store listing.

Sources: Base44 app-store docs, Base44 pricing, checked 26 Aug 2026.

Can I upload the APK to Google Play Store?
The APK you receive is built for direct installation and testing — install it on any Android device or share the download link with your users. Google Play is a separate path: new app submissions require an AAB (Android App Bundle) rather than an APK, plus Google's own developer registration — a US$25 one-time fee, as of August 2026 — and review. If a Play listing is your goal, the files you need to publish your app on Google Play — the AAB, your signing key, a hosted privacy policy, the store graphics and the answers to Google's forms — comes in one payment. You upload it from your own Play Console.

Is this completely free? Any hidden costs?
It is free to start — no account, no credit card, no subscription. You paste a URL, enter your email, and your app is built free. Downloading the signed APK is covered by a one-time unlock — priced by country and always shown before checkout — which also removes the small Free App Maker splash screen from every app you build.
What is the minimum Android version the APK supports?
APKs built by Free App Maker run on Android 5.0 (Lollipop, API level 21) and above. The Android System WebView, the rendering engine that runs your Base44 app, is kept up to date through the Google Play Store on devices that have it, so support for modern web APIs stays current.
Does Google sign-in or social login work inside the Android WebView?
Most authentication flows work. Base44's built-in email and password sign-in runs inside the WebView like any other page. OAuth providers such as Google typically hand the authorization step to an external browser tab and then redirect back to the app, which adds one step compared to desktop. Test your specific auth flow on a real device before sharing the app with users.
What happens if I change my app's base44.app URL after building the APK?
Rebuild the APK with the new URL. When you edit your Built-in URL in Base44 (Dashboard → Domains → Edit URL), the new address goes live instantly and the old link immediately stops working — and because the APK points at the exact URL you gave us, the app would stop loading. Settle on your final URL (or connect a custom domain, which starts on Base44's Starter plan at $16/mo billed annually as of August 2026) before you build, or simply build a fresh APK whenever the URL changes — building is free.

My Base44 app uses WebSockets for real-time features. Will they work?
Usually. Android's WebView supports WebSocket connections over wss:// (secure WebSockets), so real-time features like live chat or collaborative cursors should behave the same way they do in a mobile browser. Make sure your backend uses wss:// and not ws:// — Android 9 and above block cleartext traffic by default.
